His Serene Highness Dr Donatus, Prince of Hohenzollern ISM

President
HSH Dr Donatus Prince of Hohenzollern

Our president supports and represents many charities including the English Chamber Orchestra, The Purcell School, the Kensington and Chelsea Music Society, Arts4Dementia, and Blind Dog Rescue UK. He says: 'Among my engagements for concert societies and orchestras, Farnham Sinfonia is a favourite. It is the finest chamber orchestra in the rural South of England and is on the way to becoming a Symphony orchestra. Farnham Sinfonia is - as a platform for community life - also a real social asset. Private locals, business representatives and others with an interest in the community meet on the occasion of Farnham Sinfonia concerts and our social events.'

Donatus earned a Masters degree and a philosophical Doctorate in Catholic Theology and has published epistemic studies on topics such as the impact of music compared with that of other arts. In 2026, a new study will be published about the shift from the Baroque to the Romantic period as a fundamental breach in Western history of thought and culture. His academic genealogy includes Pope Benedict XVI and the philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling.

He grew up as an orphan, later adopted by the former Royal family of Germany (www.prinz-von-hohenzollern.info). He lives as a widower in Guildford and founded the Teahouse Baroque network for musicians.
