Collaboration with the Yehudi Menuhin School

Özgür Kaya, our 2021 winner

Farnham Sinfonia is proud of its association with the Yehudi Menuhin School in Cobham, Surrey. Each year the Sinfonia Award is made to a Menuhin School young musician selected as an exciting future talent - 'one to watch!'. The winner receives a financial award and the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Sinfonia at one of our three main annual concerts.

Masterclasses for young musicians

This is a recent addition to the tutoring support provided by Sinfonia players for young musicians living or studying in the area. Information on the dates of future masterclass events to be held in Farnham, and the opportunity for student applications will be shown on this website

School concerts

The position of Music as a subject in the National Curriculum has been marginalised over a number of years. Some children learn to play an instrument, often after school and through private tuition. However, many complete their school years and beyond without hearing any live classical music. Members of the Sinfonia provide a fun introduction to classical music for children of all ages. We aim to broaden their musical interests and to give them direct experience of the joy of music and music-making.
